At “New Cashmere”, St George, we have a large irrigation licence, 2,400mgs. On our 5,000ha property, we have abundant grasses in our paddocks. To further drought proof our place, we have two x 63 hectare centre pivots in place, to ensure that we have mixed grasses growing, regardless of the rainfall. The cattle want to be free to forage, and they are well suited to this location.
At “Minnel”, Toobeah, we have extensive paddocks, and on average our rainfall is reliable, providing nutritious mixed grasses for our cattle.
At “Tranquila” Raleigh, we have highly reliable rainfall, with rain clouds rolling across the sky at around 3pm most days. It is a glorious place for grass-fed cattle, along the Bellinger River.
Our cattle graze on mixed pastures, and are free to roam in our paddocks. Cattle want to be able to pick and choose from a wide range of grasses.
The grasses that we have on offer to our cattle and sheep are: Buffel, Curly Mitchell, Sabi, Vetch, Rhodes, Progardis, Desmanthus, and Prairie, Plantain, Chicory, Lucerne, Arrow Leaf Clover, and Persian.
Ian ensures that there is enough variety in the paddocks, to maintain interest for our animals, as they naturally want to forage for their own food.
Grass-fed Beef has one of the most nutrient-dense proteins. It has an extensive micronutrient profile and contains a good amount of brain-boosting omega-3 fatty acids. Grass-fed Beef is widely reported to have the following benefits:
● Fewer kilojoules and fat than grain-fed beef.
● Helps support healthy blood sugar levels.
● Contains electrolytes like magnesium and potassium.
● Contains twice the amount of conjugated lineoleic acid (CLA) than grain-fed beef.
Grass-fed beef provides up to six times more omega–3 fatty acids than grain-fed beef, and less of the damaging omega–6 fatty acids.
